On September 15, 2012, Laurentian University ended off
the last of their frosh festivities with a frosh concert held at the Grace
Hartman Amphitheatre. Many Laurentian students dressed in their country clothes
but Sudbury still gave them a harsh introduction to the dropping temperatures
of Sudbury and the use of buses after 10pm.
The venue was packed with people of all ages, sitting,
standing, dancing and cheering. The opening act was a local artist named the
Andrew Hyatt Band, who performed a couple classic covers and a few songs from
his recently released EP.
The concert main attraction was the newly named CCMA
album of the year and male artist of the year award winner; Dean Brody. Dean
Brody performed some of his biggest hits including Canadian Girls, Trail in
Life, and Roll that Barrel out. He also played Wildflower for all the women in
the crowd and some of his newly released songs, including his collaboration
with Great Big Sea; It’s Friday!
Dean Brody and his accompanying musicians did a fantastic
job and were even better in person than on their record. Highly recommended to
all of you that happened to miss out!
